Yeah spam bots have been registering but fortunately they cant post. I just need to go through and delete em. As long as they they dont post, they are no more than just annoying.

you try to do an image with letters and have new members enter the letters in the pic. I've seen this on some other sites.

Spam bots have been deleted, I'm looking into ways that keep them from registering.

Use the cryptic (already are) and the email verification (you are) and then sit back and just IP-ban the spammers that get through. That ought to do it, pretty well.

I have tightened up Spam blocking on registration. Now its only humanly possible to enter your location and signature during registration. If a bot tries to register information that is not permitted, they are blocked. We shall see how it works. If it still is a problem, the next step is more advanced captchas.

I think it do not work. There are many new registrations since 9th December and i think the most of them are spam.

Its a never ending battle. Im just going to hold out for PHPBB 3.0. I guess in the short run, I could just install the mod that hides inactive users?
