I've searched, but haven't really found the answers that I'm looking for.
I want to replace the Independent 215s I currently have on my buttboard and don't want to spend the funds on floating axles. I'm trying to decide between the Randal 180s and the Paris 195s. What is the truck of choice?
I am happy with my R2s and use them on my buttboard. I know many people use them on their luge.
But the Paris trucks give you another 15mm of width. They have a very similar geometry to R2s. If you like R2s you will like Paris. I've heard a lot of complaints that R2s and Paris truck axles bend easily, or will already be bent by the time they get to you. I've also heard that Paris trucks tend to bend more easily than R2s.
I opted for a set of Bears for my spare buttboard (Motion was out of R2s and I needed trucks that day) But I've never rode them.
paris 195 for buttboard is a top choice! we have them on the flying dentist topmount testboard and they work great. we didn't have problems with bending axles yet. i remember will condon did his buttboard ramp jump with 195 paris and they also didn't bend. i also used the bear 852 (old version) and loved them. with the hanger flipped in the back it's a great ride. hope this will help
Randal 180 axles do bend easily. I've never bent any axles riding but I have bent axles dropping my luge more than once. I use R2-Bs on my streetluge as well. Works great but I'm gonna switch to the Comps for the Maryhill race. Never used them before.

I went with the Red and White Japanese Relief Fund Randal 180s for my buttboard. I really liked the colours (they go well with my new pink wheels) and I also liked the idea of an American made truck and helping to support Japan disaster relief funds. I might buy a second set for a stand up deck.
I immediately changed out to some 95a (I'm a big guy) bushings and am loving the way they handle.
