Petaluma, California, USA – The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) is excited to announce the 2011 IGSA World Cup Series schedule for Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge. Visiting nine countries and five continents in 2011, the schedule has expanded reflecting the strong international growth of downhill skateboarding. Increased media coverage will enable more people than ever to witness the excitement of the IGSA World Cup Series.

For the second consecutive year, the season will begin June 29-July 3 with the Maryhill Festival of Speed in the United States. A few weeks later, the Series will move to Europe for three consecutive events beginning with the Kozakov Challenge July 21-24 in the Czech Republic. Following Kozakov, the Series heads to Germany July 29-31 with the Insul Cup 2011. The Euro swing will conclude August 5-7 in Italy with the Padova Grand Prix.

On September 2-4, the World Cup Series will return to North America for the WinSport Canada Cup. The event will feature a $10,000 cash purse, video broadcast with jumbotron’s and live webcasts of all the action. Taking place at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary and the organizers are pulling out all the stops.

Following a one-month hiatus, the Series will resume in the Southern Hemisphere. First up will be the Hotel Los Portales Tarma November 4-6 in Tarma, Peru. One week later the Series heads to Brazil November 11-13 for the Malarrara Pro Teutonia. Teutonia is the fastest racecourse in the world with competitors reaching speeds in excess of 113 km/h (70 mph).

Two weeks later the Series will be in Bathurst, Australia for Newton’s Nation. Newton’s Nation is much more than a race with an action sports festival and live music featuring the biggest bands in Australia. For the ninth year in a row, the IGSA World Cup Series will wrap up at the Biosphere Reserve in Kogelsberg, South Africa. On December 9-11, Hot Heels Africa will likely be the race where the Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge Championships are determined.

The International Gravity Sports Association is the international sanctioning body for downhill skateboarding and street luge, organizing the IGSA World Cup Series. IGSA events involve head to head downhill racing competitions where participants routinely reach speeds in excess of 110km/h (65mph) as they hurtle themselves down mountain roads negotiating ninety degree bends and hairpin corners. Hi guys. My girl and I are real keen to go to Insul Kozakov and Padova but we need some help from others that have been there before. We need to know Airport(s) to fly in. Then we need to know the way to get to the Race Meets. We're looking to stay on over there between Meets and thinking we may drive from Country to Country but the Travele Agent said the Trains are very good way to get around - I really don't know. Plus we'll be in need of Accommodation etc. I'll be in need of somewhere reliable to send wheels etc to before I leave Australia, that way I can just pick them up as we travel to each Meet. Any help or guidance would be very gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance,Trikes & Glenda

The Europe schedule is Kosakov, Insul, Padova.

IF you want to go to those three races, the closest airports are fly into Prague and out of Venice.
Prague is about an hour or so from Kozakov, and Venice is probably the same (although Padova is considered a suburb of Venice)

Round tripping is generally cheaper (it depends, last year it cost me about $50 more to fly into frankfurt and out of Prague) And Venice appears to be an expensive airport to fly out of. If you are looking to stay a week later, or arrive a week earlier you might want to start your vacation somewhere in between. Vienna is a good spot, it is roughly half way between Prague and Venice. Last year Bob flew out of Zurich as it was several hundred dollars cheaper then flying out of Venice. Marcus mentioned he was going to look into flying out of Milan.

I have been using the trains to get around. You can purchase a rail pass to travel between the races. Typically we use 2 legs between each race, that is we go somewhere, spend a few days, then go on to the next race. I would recommend buying the Prague->Kozakov ticket separately, it will be like $20. Then you can get a 6 day pass. Unfortunately this means you will need to coordinate a ride from the train station at all three races. They are all about 10k from the train station. You will also be without a car at the race. Kozakov will be the most difficult if you don't camp, or get one of the few accomodations near the top. If two or more of you will be travelling together, then get the super saver option.
Renting a car is expensive (on the order of $500 per week) but it is an option. It gives you a little more freedom, and allows you a wider variety of hotels. It may also give your significant other an option while you are racing. If you rent a car you will almost have to fly out of the same airport. The cost of renting a car "one-way" is just too high, not to return it. Especially since the three races are fairly close ( I think Prague to Insul by car is 7 hours, and Insul to Venice can't be much more than 10) A couple advantages to renting a car. You can probably get to your destination quicker. You don't have to lug your equipment on and off the trains. The disadvantage is you have to actually drive.

I've never shipped wheels. You need will need to investigate this so you aren't paying too much for import fees. I would recommend shipping them all to someone in Prague. When the Kozakov website is online, you can probably post your question in their forum section. On the other hand, depending on how many wheels you bring, it may be easier to just bring them with you.
